Volunteers Needed!

The American Red Cross provides services to the community through the generous donations of money and even more importantly the donations of time. While the following is a limited listing, we would be glad to talk with you about the many opportunities available in our Chapter.  Our volunteers serve both Miami and Shelby county communities in all aspects of Red Cross work. We are caseworkers, kitchen workers, mechanics, accountants, teachers, schedulers and more.

 All staff (paid and volunteer) must pass background check and attend Red Cross training.

 

 

Disaster Action Team Member

Available to respond one week of the month on a rotating schedule to assist at single family fires and other small disasters.  Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.  Training provided!

 

Disaster Volunteers

These volunteers are available for a period of up to three weeks at a time and able to travel out or our area.  They must be able to work and live in adverse conditions.  Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.  Training is provided!

 

Event Staff

Available on as needed basis to organize and staff Red Cross sites during community events.  This includes those who make Ready Teddy available to attend events.  Training Provided!

 

Fundraising Staff

Available on as needed basis to organize and staff fundraising events to benefit the Northern Miami Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross.  Training Provided!

 

Health and Safety Instructor

Available on as needed basis to provide instruction according to Red Cross guidelines in workplace and community classes.  Training available!

 

Office Support Staff

These volunteers schedule hours at their convenience to work in our Service Centers.  Their duties may include data entry, class preparation and classroom set-up, phone bank, and more.  Training is provided!

 

Public Affairs Staff

Available on as needed basis and have previous public relations experience.  These volunteers must have a professional appearance and must be able to work in a fast paced challenging environment.  Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.  Training is provided!

 

Youth Services

Do you love kids and want to educate them while entertaining them?  We need story tellers and helpers in our Masters of Disaster and Whales Tales programs.  Other programs include children's activities at events, parades, school programs, and more.  Must love kids!  Training is provided!

 

 

These are just a few of the possibilities that you will encounter as a Red Cross volunteer.  All it takes is a big heart and a few hours of your time.  Come on in and pick up a volunteer application.  We hope to see you soon!!
