Swing for Relief Charity Golf Classic – event results
( PIQUA, OH )—The American Red Cross Northern Miami Valley Chapter and the Piqua Salvation Army held their 6th Annual Charity Golf Classic “Swing for Relief” at the Piqua Country Club On June 6, 2011. Hartzell Propeller, Inc. once again served as the ”Title Sponsor” as fourteen teams joined the two well-known United Way agencies to raise money for local programs and services.
The collaborative event was a great success”, stated Chairmen Tony Wendeln and Mat Fairband, “The weather was perfect and the spirit of charity and competition showed up in full force. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves and we raised money for two wonderful organizations – money that will stay local to serve residents in Piqua, Miami County and Shelby County .”
This year’s golfers were split into two flights based on handicap. The scores couldn’t have been closer, but at the end of the day the final results were as follows:
Flight “A”
1st Place– Unity National Bank: Doug Eakin, Dave Owen, Mark Johnston, and Andy Arp
2nd Place– Mama Rosa’s: Mike Brackman, Don Goettemoeller, Vince Jolly and Steve Kessee
3rd Place– Medical Mutual: Scott Apple, Bob Bair, Lloyd Shoemaker and Chris Gigandet
Flight “B”
1st Place– US Bank: Tom Atkinson, Craig White, Doug Thompson and Greg DeVilbiss
2nd Place– Hemm’s Glass: Trent Karn, Rich Hemm, Ryan King and Josh Hesse 3rd Place– Keystone Homes: Tony Scott, John Scott, Ron Hardin and Chip Jessup
Highlights of the day included, a “hole-in-one” contest sponsored by Dan Hemm Automall, and putting contest hosted by the Scott Family McDonalds. The day also included some friendly on course competitions. Taking home the bragging rights this year were:
