General Courses
New Volunteer Orientation
Introduces local Red Cross programs: includes chapter structure training, work opportunities and more. Pre-registration required. Contact your local chapter for information.
DAT Training
Course orients the new Disaster Action Team members to the intial chapter disaster response , chapter policies and procedures, including vehicles, supplies, and chapter structure. The participant will explore the responsibilities of the DAT and the role of the DAT in both small and large disaster operations. Contact your local chapter for more information about this workshop.
Shelter Operations
Prerequisite: Introduction to Disaster Services and Mass Care: An Overview
This course prepares participants to manage shelter operations as a team, so they can effectively meet the needs of people displaced as a result of a disaster.
Shelter Simulation
Prerequisite: Mass Care: An Overview and Shelter Operations.
Practice the knowledge and skills learned in Shelter Operations course and learn how to address common shelter problems effectively.
Disaster Services: An Overview
This instructor led, based level course provides an introduction provides an introduction to disaster services at the American Red Cross. The course engages participants through video and interactice activities. Participants will learn about volunteer opportunities in the local chapter and their role in helping the community prevent, prepare for, and respond to disaster. -3.5 hrs

Mass Casualty Disasters:
This instructor led, interactive course teaches Red Cross staff to provide a more effective initial response to four categories of mass casualty disasters. Pre-requisite: Disaster Services: An Overview 8 hrs
Mass Care Courses
Shelter operations: This instructor led course prepares you to manage shelter operations effectively and sensitively as a team while meeting the needs of people displaced by disaster. Pre-requisite: Disaster Services: An Overview -3 hrs.

Psycholigical First-Aid
This instructor led course prepares Red Cross staff to approximately care, comfort, and support clients and staff experiencing disaster related stress. There is no pre-requisite for this class. 4Hrs
Client Casework
Prerequisite: Fulfilling Our Mission
Learn the skills and tools necessary to explain and provide Red Cross emergency disaster assistance to clients, to conduct an effective client interview, and how to use basic forms and tools needed to assist clients.
